A group of students is urging the postponement of the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations, currently set to commence on April 10. They have demanded a delay of at least one month and an extension of three to four days between each exam.
The protesting students have announced plans to stage a sit-in at the Central Shaheed Minar to press their demands. They have also vowed to initiate a non-cooperation movement, refusing to participate in the exams or related activities if their requests are not met.
In a press release issued on Thursday (April 3), the students, under the banner of ‘SSC Candidates 2025,’ outlined their concerns. They emphasized that during Ramadan, many students struggled to adequately prepare due to fasting. With exams scheduled immediately after Eid, they argue that insufficient preparation time may negatively impact their performance. A one-month delay, they contend, would provide them with a better opportunity to study effectively.
The statement also highlights concerns over extreme heat expected in April and May. Sitting for exams under such conditions, they claim, could be physically challenging and pose health risks. Additionally, as many examination centers are located far from students’ homes, they insist on incorporating a three- to four-day interval between exams to ease the burden.
According to the schedule released by the education boards, the SSC, Dakhil, and SSC (Vocational) exams will begin on April 10. The written exams for SSC under the nine general education boards are set to conclude on May 13, while the Madrasa Board’s Dakhil exams will end on May 15. Practical exams will continue until May 22.
