Strict action will be taken against CMCH syndicate: Shahadat

Chattogram Bureau :
Saying that taking patients and relatives of the deceased hostage in the name of ambulance fare will not be tolerated, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain said that strict action will be taken against those who form this syndicate and exploit the weakness of the patients in their difficult times to collect extra money at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). I challenge – let’s see who is stronger! I will not let Chittagong be held hostage.
He gave this warning as the chief guest in a view-sharing meeting organized on Wednesday (June 18) at the conference room of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on the issue of determining fares and rationality in ambulance services. The meeting was presided over by the hospital director Brigadier General Md. Taslim Uddin.
Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Deputy Director Dr. Mohammad Ilias Chowdhury, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam, former Health Affairs Secretary of the Metropolitan BNP SM Sarwar Alam, etc. The Mayor said, the rent that was determined by consensus in 2018 is still in effect. However, the cost calculation has changed in the long seven years, so there is an opportunity to re-evaluate the rent at a reasonable rate. However, it must be based solely on transparency and policies-not on the basis of exploitation. I have seen myself that when a patient dies, some ward boys strategically call a specific ambulance. This is a kind of business where fourth class employees, some influential people, and even political leaders participate. To break this syndicate, a coordinated meeting will have to be held with multiple parties. It is not enough to just make policies, but its implementation requires surveillance and strict monitoring.
