While the fallen fascist Hasina regime’s cohorts and allies terrorists trying to create security threat ahead of the 13th national elections scheduled to be held on February 12 in 2026, all concerns have been urged for strengthening the national unity.

Sources said, ousted Hasina and her cohorts from India have threatened several times using online platforms to disrupt Bangladesh’s upcoming election.

Amid these, miscreants have shot on head on Sharif Osman Hadi- a frontline fighter of the July uprising and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha and a potential candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency.

Former Chhatra League leader Faysal Karim Daud, allegedly shot on Hadi just day after the Election Commission announced the schedule of the 13th national election.

The terrorists’ gun attack on Hadi created a panic among the whole political arena.
There are more attacks from the fallen fascists’ cohort feared among the countrymen, particularly the MP aspirants.

In these circumstances, BNP-nominated Narayanganj-5 candidate Masuduzzaman Masud, withdrew himself from the election race citing security concerns.

However, Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday said that contesting an election is entirely a personal decision.

He made the comments while responding to questions at the BKMEA office in Narayanganj regarding the withdrawal of BNP-nominated Narayanganj-5 candidate Masuduzzaman Masud, who cited security concerns.

Earlier, at a press briefing at the Narayanganj Press Club on Tuesday, Masuduzzaman Masud announced his withdrawal from the race, citing family concerns following the assassination attempt on Osman Hadi in Dhaka.

The Chief Adviser Professor, Dr. Muhammand Yunus, along with the politicians vowed to make national unity stronger to foil the security threats created by the fallen fascists.

Experts also urged for strengthening national unity to defeat the ousted regimes conspiracies.

When contacted, eminent political analyst Professor Mahbub Ullah told The New Nation, “I will urge all the anti-fascist political parties to make strong national unity to foil all conspiracies.”

He said, only national unity can foil the security threat ahead of the polls. When contacted, eminent security expert Commodore Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan, (Retd) Assistant Chief of Naval Staff told The New Nation, “A neighboring country seemingly behind conspiracies against Bangladesh.”

He said, only strengthening national unity is a path to foil such plots of fascists and their allies.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has issued a strong warning that those responsible for the recent attack on Sharif Osman Hadi- a frontline fighter of the July uprising and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha- will not escape justice.

“The government is dealing with this incident with the utmost seriousness. The individuals involved have already been preliminarily identified. I assure the people of the country that no one linked to this conspiracy will be spared, wherever they may be,” he said.

The Chief Adviser made the statement while addressing the nation on the occasion of Victory Day 2025. Expressing deep concern, he said, “The attack on Sharif Osman Hadi is not merely an assault on an individual; it is an attack on the very existence of Bangladesh and on our democratic journey.”

He further stressed that protecting the upcoming election is a collective responsibility, noting that safeguarding the right to vote is synonymous with safeguarding the country itself.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on party leaders and activists to remain vigilant and united, cautioning that the period ahead will be difficult as conspiracies against the country continue.

“I am reiterating that the time ahead will not be easy. Everyone must stay alert and united,” he said.

Tarique Rahman made the remarks while addressing a discussion meeting organised by the London Chapter of the BNP at City Pavilion early Wednesday to mark Victory Day.

Referring to the prevailing political situation, he said conspiracies have not ceased and the forthcoming national election will be challenging.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said there is no mercy for the fascists. Urging the national unity the Jamaat chief said his party has not and will not compromise with the fascist power.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has clarified that it has not held any discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding providing firearms to candidates ahead of the upcoming national election.

EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed made the clarification on Wednesday while speaking to reporters at the Nirbachan Bhaban, addressing speculation triggered by recent remarks from the home affairs adviser.
