After witnessing a downward trend in the last three sessions, stocks on Thursday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), advanced by 15.1 points and settled at 5,184 points as against 5,169 points in the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, trading activities remained stagnant with market turnover in DSE marginally increasing by 2.3 percent to Taka 2.82 billion as against Taka 2.76 billion in the previous session, reports BSS.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (23.7 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (11.8 percent) and Engineering (11.3 percent) sectors.
Most of the sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Financial Institution (1.7 percent), Jute (1.3 percent) and Fuel & Power (1.0 percent) exhibited the most gains on the bourse on Thursday, while Paper (-0.9 percent), IT (-0.5 percent) and Mutual Fund (-0.3 percent) exerted the most corrections.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 187 advanced, 128 declined and 82 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on red terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) lost 31.5 and 53.8 points, respectively.
