Stocks on Sunday performed mixed with major indices finishing flat.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, slightly declined by 3.7 points to settle at 5,222 points, as against 5,226 points in the previous trading session.
However, investor participation has been observed in certain December-closing scrip ahead of their corporate declarations, while insurance stocks also gained a positive momentum owing to the buying appetite of short-term gain-focused investors, repots BSS.
Nevertheless, price correction in particular large-cap scrip dragged down the broad index into the red territory.
Meanwhile, market turnover slightly increased by 8.1% to Taka 4.5 billion as against Taka 4.1 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Textile (13.2%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Engineering (12.7%) and Pharma (11.7%) sectors. Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Ceramic (2.8%), General Insurance (2.7%) and Paper (2.2%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse on Sunday, while Travel (-1.3%), Tannery (-1.0%) and Financial Institution (-0.7%) exerted the most corrections.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 142 advanced, 187 declined and 68 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, however, witnessed a negative session on Sunday. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) edged up by 5.2 points and 7.5 points, respectively.
