Stock markets on Wednesday finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased by 2.43 points to settle at 5,189.62. The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 0.69 points to 1,913.38, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 0.35 points to 1,152.35 by the close, reports BSS.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 3.91 billion, down 24.71 per cent from the previous trading day.
The majority of the stocks saw a price decrease, as out of the 399 issues traded, 143 closed higher, 209 ended lower, and 47 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Taufika Foods and Lovello Ice-cream were the most-traded stocks with shares worth Tk 164.52 million changing hands, followed by Robi Axiata, Orion Infusion, Kohinoor Chemicals Company and Al-Haj Textile.
