Business Report :
Stock markets on Thursday finished the session of the week flat amid lower activities of large-cap securities.
The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 5.34 points down at 5,192.59. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 1.19 point down at 1916.23. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 0.32 point up at 1166.89.
Market analysts observed that despite the market opening higher, extending the positive momentum from the previous session, cautious investors’ subsequent profit booking spree due to shaky market confidence dragged down the indices again.
However, market turnover slightly increased by 5.0 percent to Taka 4.7 billion as against Taka 4.5 billion in the previous session. On the sectoral front, Bank (17.9 percent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (12.6pc) and Food (9.7pc) sectors.
