Steam test starts at RNPP

Pabna Correspondent :

A steam release test began on Thursday at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction project.

During the test, high-pressure steam may generate loud noise similar to that of a jet engine. The project authorities have urged local residents not to be alarmed by the sound.

Saikat Ahmed, Senior Scientific Information Officer and Project Focal Point, said in a press release that the steam release test will continue for 4-5 days starting Thursday (20 November).

According to the release, the Russian general contractor JSC-ASE is conducting the scheduled test as part of safety verification of the main steam pipeline and steam generators in the project area.

During the test, high-pressure steam will be released into the atmosphere through designated valves, which may produce loud noise for short periods.

Authorities stated that the noise is entirely planned, normal, and safe. There is no risk or danger to the public. Similar tests are routinely conducted worldwide to ensure the quality, durability, and safety of nuclear power plants.
