A stakeholder consultation workshop on Blended TVET in Bangladesh, a joint initiative by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA)/Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada, and Bangladesh Open University (BOU), was inaugurated on Monday at the Central Conference Hall of the University’s Gazipur campus.
The opening session was graced by the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. SMAFaiz, the Honorable Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. In his address, he said, “The rapid changes in technology, industry, and skill training across the world highlight the need to modernize and make Bangladesh’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system more inclusive and responsive to these changes. The Blended Learning approach-which combines online and face-to-face learning-opens new possibilities in this sector.
The primary objective of this workshop is to devise a unified strategy based on the insights, experiences, and recommendations of policymakers, academics, industry leaders, training providers, and other stakeholders, which will support the successful implementation of Blended TVET in Bangladesh. The University Grants Commission believes that such stakeholder consultation workshops at Bangladesh Open University will play a key role in formulating quality, competency-based, and labor-market-oriented education policies.”
The session was chaired by Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, the Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University (BOU). He said, “Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays a crucial role in Bangladesh’s development.
