An on-duty doctor has been accused of kicking and injuring an elderly heart patient named Md. Mohsin (70), who had come to the emergency department of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH) , after he came for treatment on Tuesday afternoon
Patient’s son Sholak has filed a case with Kishoreganj Model Police Station as the plaintiff in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj model Police Station , Abdullah -al- Mamun confirmed the receipt of the complaint and said legal action will be taken after investigation.
The patient’s relatives saids that Md. Mohsin, a heart patient from Batrish area in Kishoreganj town, was under treatment in SSNIMCH for a few days and when his condition deteriorated, he went to the emergency department to be admitted again.
Then on duty doctor Mahbub Alam Milon, asked them to go to a clinic in the city instead of admitting them to the hospital. When an argument broke out, the doctor abused the patient Mohsin’s wife, daughter and niece in obscene language. At one point, he got up from the chair and kicked Mohsin. This injured his left thigh. Later, Ansar members rescued the patient and admitted him.
In this regard, Assistant Director (AD) of SSNIMCH, dr. Md. Nasiruzzaman said, “We have received a verbal complaint about the incident. If a written complaint is received, we will investigate and take action”
