The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams begin today, Thursday, with over 1.9 million students set to participate across the country. The theoretical exams will run until May 13, followed by practical exams from May 15 to 22.

To ensure smooth conduct of the exams, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a restriction on the presence of unauthorised individuals within 200 yards of exam centres.
The order, issued under sections 28 and 29 of the DMP Ordinance-1966, will remain in effect throughout the exam period.

This year, 1,490,142 students from nine general education boards are sitting for the exams at 2,291 centres across 18,084 institutions. Among them are 701,538 male and 788,604 female students.

Additionally, 294,726 candidates are registered under the Madrasa Board and 143,313 under the Technical Education Board, bringing the total number of examinees to 1,928,181. Due to recent changes, the mathematics exam has been rescheduled to April 21. A revised timetable has been released accordingly.

To maintain discipline and integrity, the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has issued a 14-point directive for students, covering rules around attendance, identification, exam materials, and centre protocols.
