Sports Adviser to the Interim Government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan officially inaugurated Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 on Monday at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium with a vibrant music festival event.

In the inaugural speech, Asif Mahmud said, “Today, we stand in a Bangladesh that is the result of long struggles. With the vision of building a new Bangladesh, reforms are underway across every sector of the country. Similarly, the BPL has been restructured with the goal of making it more modern and appealing to the audience.

“Some new initiatives have been introduced in this year’s BPL, including a theme song and a mascot. The BCB has done a lot of work in this regard. I thank the BCB for their efforts in making this event successful. The chief adviser was also directly involved in this initiative. I hope that this year’s BPL will be enjoyed by all as a new chapter in the journey of a new Bangladesh.”

BCB President Faruque Ahmed said, “Today, through the music festival, we have officially kicked off the celebration of BPL. To make this year’s event more exciting, we have implemented several initiatives, including the unveiling of the theme song and graffiti. I hope each team will entertain the audience with their best performances.”

At the music festival, Pakistani Artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is performing to entertain the audience with his soulful songs. Additionally, popular Bangladeshi bands and artists will also take the stage during this grand event.

With the excitement for the BPL 2024 season, which will kick off on December 30, at its peak, organisers are equally determined to deliver a successful tournament. Through new initiatives and attractive arrangements, everyone hopes that this year’s BPL will reach new heights.
