Staff Reporter :

The harrowing reality of unclaimed bodies has resurfaced as reports reveal that six unidentified victims of the July Uprising have been discovered in cold storage at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), six months after the incident.

Although the Sheikh Hasina government has since been dismantled, no one has come forward to claim these bodies.

This information was disclosed on Friday during a press conference held by the Special Cell on the July Uprising in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Speakers at the press conference stated that their investigations uncovered the presence of six unidentified bodies in the hospital morgue. They added that a team from the Special Cell visited Shahbagh Police Station earlier in the day to gather further details.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khalid Mansur of Shahbagh Police Station confirmed that the six bodies remain stored in the forensic morgue of Dhaka Medical College.

The bodies include four unidentified male persons aged 20, 22, 25, 30 respectively and some Enamul 25 and an unidentified female aged 32.

Autopsies have been conducted on all six. The cause of death for five individuals was recorded as “injury-related,” while Enamul’s death was attributed to “falling from a height.”

The Special Cell leaders reported that DNA samples and circumstantial evidence have been collected from the bodies, which remain preserved in the forensic cold storage of DMCH.
They urged family members of missing individuals to come forward and contact them at the mobile number 01621324187.
