Southeast University (SEU) hosted a day-long International Summit on Three Zeroes Policy on Monday, June 30, 2025, at its main campus, bringing together global voices to discuss actionable strategies for achieving zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions. The summit was organized by SEU’s School of Business in collaboration with the Center for Social and Cultural Advancement (CSCA), Southeast Business Innovation Forum (SBIF), and Southeast University Debate Club (SEUDC).
The event commenced with opening remarks from Prof. Dr. Mofazzal Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Southeast University. The inaugural session featured Mr. Ashraful Hasan, Chairman of Grameen Group, as the Chief Guest. He shared valuable insights from his experience with Grameen Bank’s initiatives. The session was chaired by SEU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam.
Bringing together policymakers, academics, industry experts, diplomats, and youth leaders from six countries, the summit served as a platform to exchange ideas and drive forward-thinking policies for sustainable global development. Discussions focused on integrating economic inclusion with environmental responsibility.
The closing session featured an esteemed panel including Chief Guest Mr. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Honorable Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of renewable energy, sustainable development, and poverty alleviation. Highlighting the need for innovative, community-driven solutions, he proposed installing rooftop solar panels in public institutions such as offices, courts, schools, and colleges. He underscored that collaborative spirit is key to empowering the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of North South University and Chairman of Grameen Bank, attended as the Guest of Honor. Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman of Southeast University Trust, delivered a special address. The closing session also featured remarks from SEU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam.
The summit reinforced Southeast University’s commitment to tackling pressing global issues through innovation, dialogue, and inclusive collaboration, setting a powerful example of academic leadership in building a sustainable future.
