Rising Bangladeshi music artist Sonia Saha Shanta was honored with the Excellence in Success Award at a grand ceremony held at Sky City Banquet Hall in Dhaka. The award recognizes her growing impact on the country’s music industry and her continued artistic evolution.
Hailing from Cumilla, Sonia’s musical roots run deep. She began training under her mother, Ratna Saha, a respected local music teacher, and quickly gained recognition by winning national-level awards in government competitions. These early achievements laid a strong foundation for a flourishing career.
Her national breakthrough came in 2011 when she secured a spot among the top 11 contestants on the reality show Sing Bengal’s Songs. She later won the Jago FM Braver Music Competition, receiving the highest number of public votes—firmly establishing her popularity among listeners.
Over the years, Sonia has released more than 15 original songs and music videos and continues to expand her discography. “My goal is to improve with every project and explore different musical styles,” she said after completing four new tracks.
Following a brief hiatus after her marriage, Sonia returned to the spotlight with renewed focus. “Coming back after a break was challenging, but I’m more determined than ever to pursue my passion,” she shared.
Her comeback marks not only a personal milestone but also a professional turning point. Sonia is now set to make her debut as a playback singer in an upcoming film directed by one of Bangladesh’s leading filmmakers—signaling her entry into the world of cinema music.
Looking ahead, Sonia Saha Shanta hopes to inspire the next generation of musicians while continuing to build her own legacy. “I want to dedicate my life to music and encourage others to follow their dreams, just as my family has inspired me,” she said.
Supported by her mother, fans, and a growing body of acclaimed work, Sonia is poised for even greater achievements in the years to come.
