NN Online:
A man was allegedly killed by his son in Narayanganj’s Araihazar upazila on Friday morning (July 4) after refusing to provide money for a motorcycle.

The victim, 42-year-old farmer Md Mahbub, was reportedly attacked with a hammer by his 22-year-old son, Md Yasin, during a heated altercation at their home in the Purbo Para area. Locals said Yasin, who fled the scene, was known to be addicted to drugs.

According to witnesses, Yasin had demanded money from his father to buy a motorcycle that morning. When Mahbub refused, a quarrel ensued, during which Yasin allegedly struck him multiple times with a hammer.

Mahbub was rushed to the local health complex in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Araihazar Police Station OC Khondoker Nasir Uddin confirmed that the body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

“Initial findings suggest the murder was triggered by a dispute over money for a motorcycle,” said the OC, adding that efforts are underway to arrest the fugitive son.
