‘Some parties misusing religion in the name of politics’

BNP’s Joint Secretary General of the National Executive Committee, Syed Emran Saleh Prince, has said that BNP is a universal and welfare-oriented political party that works for people of all religions, castes, and communities.
“BNP does not practise religion-based politics; rather, it seeks to spread peace and morality in society by prioritising religious values and cultural heritage,” he said.
He made these remarks while addressing a Durga Puja reunion event held at the District Council Dak Bungalow premises in Dobaura upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday as part of a day-long programme.
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince organised the reunion event following the Durga and Laxmi Puja celebrations.
Besides eminent members of the Hindu community from Haluaghat, presidents and general secretaries of various upazila, union, and Puja celebration committees were present at the event.
Extending his greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Bijoya Dashami, Emran Saleh Prince said that people in Bangladesh participate in each other’s religious and social festivals in a spirit of communal harmony a long-standing tradition of the Bangladeshi nation.
Urging everyone to uphold this legacy irrespective of religion or caste, he stated that this spirit embodies the philosophy of Bangladeshi nationalism.
He further said that in the past, the Awami League tried to exploit minority communities for political gain by treating them as a mere vote bank.
“While the Awami League benefited from such tactics, the minority communities suffered immensely,” he added.
Prince emphasised that BNP aims to ensure dignity and participation for people of all religions and communities in nation-building.
Highlighting the vision of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he said, “Tarique Rahman has called for building a state based on equality, human dignity, and justice, inspired by the spirit of the Liberation War and the aspiration for a mass uprising.
His vision is centred on Bangladesh he dreams of change and inspires the people to dream as well.
This dream belongs not only to Tarique Rahman but to all, regardless of religion or community.”
Prince urged the people of Dobaura to join hands with Tarique Rahman in transforming the long-neglected region into an ‘Enlightened Dobaura’.
He also stressed the importance of promoting sports and culture, including providing training for female football players.
Calling upon members of the Hindu community to place their trust in BNP’s electoral symbol, the paddy sheaf, Prince said, “BNP does not do politics in the name of religion.
While we give the utmost respect to Islamic values cherished by the majority, we also prioritise and honour the values of other faiths.”
He expressed his desire to continue organising Eid, Puja, and Christmas reunions not only in the capital but also in Haluaghat and Dobaura in the coming days.
Prince also pledged to support the renovation of temples and other religious establishments of the Hindu community.
“Some parties are attempting to create frenzy in the name of politics by exploiting religion,” he warned. “We must resist their ill attempts through united efforts.”
Among the BNP leaders present at the reunion were former Upazila Chairman Mofiz Uddin, Dobaura BNP Convener Professor Azharul Islam Kajol, Member Secretary Anisur Rahman Monik, Senior Joint Convener Moazzem Hossain Khan Liton, and leaders of the Sanatan community including Subhash Saha, Narayan Hajong, Minty Rani Shil, Ashish Saha, and Bipul Chandra Sen.
