A protest and solidarity rally was held in protest against the attack by the Israeli forces in Gaza, Palestine. This Monday (07 April 2025) morning, a protest procession was taken out from the Independence Memorial Ground of Begum Rokeya University under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali. The procession circled the main gate of the university, the park intersection, Shaheed Abu Sayeed Chattar, Shaheed Abu Sayeed Gate and came to the rally at the Independence Memorial Ground.
Teachers, students, officers and employees of various departments of the university participated in the solidarity rally. Bru Vice Chancellor spoke as the chief guest at the rally. At this time, he said, a solidarity rally is being held at Begum Rokeya University to express solidarity with the outraged people of Bangladesh and the world over in protest against Israel’s barbaric and heinous attack on Gaza, Palestine. He further said. People all over the world are witnessing the atrocities of Israel’s indiscriminate killing of innocent Palestinians and attacks on their homes. The Vice-Chancellor called on the world community to build a strong public opinion against the most heinous crime against humanity in the history of the Israeli army and to immediately stop the attack and come forward to support the innocent Palestinians.
Among others, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Registrar Dr. Md. Harun-or Rashid, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Office Professor Dr. Md. Ilias Pramanik, Khatib Rakib Uddin Ahmed of Berobi Central Mosque and other students from various departments spoke. In their speeches, the speakers strongly demanded a nationwide boycott of Israeli products, an economic blockade of Jews, and the immediate recognition of the Palestinian state to effectively resist Israel’s most barbaric aggression.
It is worth noting that the Begum Rokeya University administration announced the suspension of all classes and exams of the university on Monday in solidarity with the students’ worldwide class and exam boycott program in protest of the brutal attack by the Israeli forces in Gaza.
