Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman emphasised that all members of the Bangladesh Army must remain fully prepared to shoulder their highest responsibilities whenever the nation calls upon them.

He made these remarks during a ceremony of the seventh colonel of the regiment at the parade ground of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre in Rajshahi Cantonment on Thursday morning.

Through this event, General Waker formally assumed the guardianship of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre.

He said the Infantry Regiment had been carrying out its duties with great responsibility since 1971, adding that the regiment would be developed into a more modern and capable force in the future.

“I hope army personnel will willingly fulfil their duties in service of the nation and be prepared to sacrifice their lives if necessary,” he added.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every member of the regiment is trained and professional. “The Bangladesh Army’s regiments have undergone modernisation. This includes establishing new units, adding modern weapons and equipment, and implementing welfare and development initiatives, all of which have enhanced the army’s capabilities,” said General Waker.

Earlier, General Waker-Uz-Zaman was inducted as the 7th “Colonel of the Regiment” of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre. Through this, he assumed the guardianship of the regiment.
