As the field of a government primary school in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh was low, two lakh taka was allocated under the TR project to fill the ground and make it suitable for students to play. But without doing the work, the school’s acting headmaster Jobeda Nahar and the Niguari Union Parishad administrator Upazila Assistant Primary Education Officer Helal Uddin Arif Rabbani took the entire project money and embezzled it.
On Wednesday ‘The Daily New Nation’ newspaper published the news on the national page on page 10, titled “Two lakh taka embezzled in a school in Mymensingh.”
The acting headmaster and the assistant education officer were shocked after this. After the news was published, the Sadhua Barihati Government Primary School in Niguari Union of the upazila started filling the ground with soil. Locals said that after the news was published in the Daily New Nation, the matter came into discussion.
Then, the school started pouring soil in the field with soil.Incidentally, sources from the Niguari Union Parishad office of the upazila said that in the last fiscal year 2024-25, Niguari Union Parishad Administrator Assistant Upazila Primary Education Officer Helal Uddin Arif Rabbani allocated two lakh taka for filling the field of Sadhua Barihati Government Primary School. Then, the acting headmaster of the school Jobeda Nahar was made the president of the school field filling project. Then, the project was closed last June.
After that, even though another 4 months passed, the acting headmaster and the union parishad administrator withdrew all the money and embezzled it without doing any work. However, they embezzled the entire two lakh taka of the allocation by showing that the work had been done in a formal manner.
Meanwhile, Sadek Mir, a resident of Niguari Union, along with a few others, said that we shared the report published in Amar Desh on the embezzlement of money allocated for the development of school grounds through social media. After that, Union BNP leader Nazim Uddin Lalu and Union Parishad Administrator Assistant Upazila Education Officer Helal Uddin Arif Rabbani are abusing us through various people.
They are threatening to take us to court if we do not delete the news from Facebook. In addition, Lalu himself is roaming around our area with a few motorcycles and abusing us publicly. In this situation, we are a little worried.
