Meanwhile, the ‘angry civil society’ has given a 24-hour ultimatum to release all students and ordinary citizens detained across the country including Dhaka.

The representatives of the angry civil society made this demand from a human chain organized in front of the DMP’s Detective Branch (DB) office on Minto Road in the capital at 3 pm on Thursday (August 1).

Earlier on Tuesday (July 30), the ‘angry civil society’ issued a 24-hour ultimatum to release the six coordinators kept in the DB office.

While giving the ultimatum in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), it was said that if the demands are not met, a strict program will be given.

After passing the ultimatum, the ‘angry civil society’ marched towards the DB office on Thursday. However, six coordinators were released around 1:30 PM before ending ultimatum.

Debapriya Bhattacharya, Honorary Fellow of Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Economist and Public Policy Analyst, said that within the next 24 hours, students-teachers and ordinary people detained all over the country, including Dhaka, should be released without trial and those detained without legal action. This is our main demand.
