Sylhet Bureau :
Along with the sit-in, protest, procession and fake funeral procession of the interim government in protest of the police attack on engineering students in the capital, students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have held a fake funeral procession of the interim government.
The programme began on Thursday (August 28) afternoon with a silent sit-in at the university’s roundabout. Earlier, the protesting students have been boycotting classes and exams in all departments of the Faculty of Engineering since Wednesday.
The protesters appeared at the rally with various protest placards. The placards read – ‘If quota eats the country, destruction is at its doorstep’, ‘Discrimination in jobs, accept it or not’, ‘Black hand of discrimination, break it and destroy it’.
From the rally, they strongly condemned the police attack on the movement for fair demands and urged the government to accept their demands.
After the rally, the students took out a protest procession. The procession started from the roundabout and took up position in front of the main gate of the university. During this time, they raised various slogans against the quota system.
Later, the students held a ‘gayebana janaza of the interim government’ program at the main gate of the university in protest against the police attack.
