Protest rally and union parishad siege programme were held in the Union Parishad demanding the resignation of the chairman of Chittagong’s Lohagara Sadar Union, Nuruchchafa Chowdhury.
On Thursday at 12:30 pm, a protest rally was held at Union Parishad No. 6 premises of the upazila.
At that time, people from all levels of the council were present. They said, they demanded that the chairman, who shot at the students in the anti-discrimination student movement, immediately resign from the post of chairman.
It is to be noted that in the last 2020 UP election, Awami League candidate in Lohagara Sadar Union No. 6 elected with the boat symbol and by voting in the middle of the night, he defeated his closest rival independent candidate with the pineapple symbol. He was elected chairman after defeating Shahabuddin.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Inamul Hasan said in this regard, “I am not aware but I heard from you for the first time. I am looking into this matter.”
