Showbiz stars are also expressing their condolences. Singer Sajia Sultana Putul shared childhood memories with Khaleda Zia while expressing her condolences.
Reminiscing about seeing Khaleda Zia for the first time, Putul wrote on Facebook, “I saw her (Khaleda Zia) for the first time in my life as a child; I touched her fluffy hands. What an incredible feeling! The joy of being able to touch her was no less than the joy of winning. I looked into her eyes as I accepted the award. It felt like a wax figure standing in front of me, smiling. With her gray hair and white sari, I felt like you have to have so much nobility to be the head of state.”
Putul had the experience of singing in front of Khaleda Zia when she was growing up.
Recounting that memory, Putul wrote, “After growing up, I sang in front of her again. That was when I started my journey as a professional artist in the music industry. She sat on the stage, and I stood just a few feet away from her and sang on the same stage. She adored me after my performance that day. I understood that she was a culture-loving Prime Minister.”
Expressing grief over the death of Khaleda Zia, Putul wrote, “A chapter has ended. The first female Prime Minister of the land called Bangladesh has passed away, who showed millions of young women of this country the dream that even an ordinary housewife can become extraordinary with the power of confidence. Not only extraordinary, but becoming the Prime Minister of the country is not impossible. She proved wrong the idea that only a long background in politics from birth can make one a Prime Minister, and she became the Prime Minister three times with her wisdom and confidence. May you be well, Honourable. History will remember you…”
