Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has called for the National Consensus Commission’s report to be made easily understandable and accessible to the public through the publication of a simplified version.
He came up with the remarks while members of the National Consensus Commission handed over the eight-volume report to the Chief Adviser at the state guest house Jamuna on Wednesday.
The comprehensive report includes the commission’s recommendations, meeting summaries, and detailed proceedings.
“The report must be turned into a version that ordinary people can understand. It should be published as a book so that the general public, as well as students of schools and colleges, can read and explain it to others,” Professor Yunus said.
He also urged that the book be published in both English and Bengali.
“It should eventually become essential reading for students. The young generation should read it, understand it themselves, and help their parents learn what it contains,” he added.
Commission’s Vice-Chair Prof Ali Riaz, members Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, and Dr Md Aiyub Mia, along with the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider, were present on the occasion.
During the event, Ali Riaz noted that the eight-volume report contains the July National Charter 2025, the commission’s activities and processes, background information, written proposals from political parties, public opinions, spreadsheets sent to the parties, and records of all discussions and dialogues.
“We believe this report will serve as a vital document for future research both at home and abroad,” he said. The commission had submitted its recommendations for implementing the July National Charter to the government on Tuesday.
