Silva happy over team’s performance

Opener Kaushal Silva, who hit his maiden career Test ton, said he is happy of his overall team performance on the second day.
He was talking to the pressmen at a post match press conference held Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“We scored nearly 300 runs for the day. I think it all went well. It was a good day for us,” he said.
Silva said getting a first Test century was really good for him as he got some luck that he capitalized on the day.
“After two good partnerships, sometimes you tend to lose some wickets. Apart from that our guys batted really well. Dimuth and Kumar – both of them batted really well. Now Mahela is there. If we can get a good total tomorrow and if we can bat, the whole day, we can have a good total on the day,” said the 27-year right handed batsman.
Commenting about Sangakkara he said: “We two have been playing each other for about 5-6 years now. When I’m out of form I used to go and talk with him and get some advice. It’s good to play along with him and getting 100 when he’s on the other side.”
Commenting about the wicket, Silva said the pitch was a bit slower. Yesterday (Monday) it was coming on nicely, but later on it started to spin and grip a bit. It got slower and slower.
He said it was not hard – it’s just that the ball was not coming on sometimes. It got slower and slower as the day progressed.
Asked about team plan he said: “We haven’t decided on a total yet – just that we need to bat at least two sessions tomorrow (Wednesday) and think about it after that. We just want to bat normally and play positively – that’s our plan.”
