The bustling capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, has transformed into a ghost town as millions of residents have left for their hometowns to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. With empty streets, closed shops, and significantly reduced traffic, the city presents an unusual sight compared to its usual chaos.

Popular commercial and residential areas, including Motijheel, Gulshan, and Dhanmondi, remain largely deserted. Only a few rickshaws and public transport vehicles can be seen navigating the city’s otherwise vacant roads.

Residents who stayed back in the capital describe the quiet as both peaceful and eerie. “It feels strange to see Dhaka so empty. But it’s also a relief to get a break from the usual congestion and noise,” said Rafiq Ahmed, a local resident.

Security measures have been heightened to ensure safety during the holiday season. Law enforcement agencies are patrolling key locations, including bus terminals, railway stations, and major religious sites. Authorities have also assured that emergency services remain active to assist those in need.

While many Dhaka dwellers cherish this brief calm, the city is expected to return to its usual hustle and bustle once the holiday period ends, as millions of people will make their way back for work and daily activities.
