Probe report: SI Ratan has no link with molesting ASA Univ girl

The investigation committee could not find the connection of Sub-Inspector (SI) Ratan Kumar with the molesting of a private university girl in the city area a few days ago.
The two-member probe-committee has submitted the report to the Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Tejgaon Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Habibunnabi Anisur Rashid and the chief of the probe-body handed over the report to the concerned Deputy Commissioner office on Monday, said Maruf Hossain Sarder, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP.  
Farhana Akhter, a first year student of ASA University, who faced alleged harassment filed a case against the policeman with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 on February 1.
The Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 ordered holding a judicial inquiry into the molestation after filing the case with the court against Ratan Kumar.
After hearing the complaint, judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed gave the order to hold the judicial inquiry and submit the report within a week.
According to the case statement, Ratan stopped the rickshaw carrying the female student near the Japan Garden City, Mohammadpur on January 31 as she was on her way to Satmasjid Road from the university to buy books.
The sub-inspector took her to a nearby shop and forced the shopkeepers to leave saying he has to search her on the suspicion that there were Yaba tablets in her possession.
The sub inspector forced her to stay inside the lonely shop for around an hour and molested her on the pretext of searching her with no female police personnel around, the case statement said.
The Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar said that police formed a two-member probe committee to investigate the matter.
The committee was asked to submit the report within three working days, said Biplab.
The DC said that the accused Ratan Kumar was placed under suspension Monday morning.
Earlier on Sunday night, the sub inspector was closed to Tejgaon DC office, he said.
