In the fourth phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad elections, Barrister Tahrim Hossain Shimanto, son of the late four-time MP Ekabbar Hossain, son of Upazila Awami League General Secretary and late four-time MP, and Azaharul Islam Azahar, the current Vice Chairman and Joint Convener of the Upazila Jubo League, as the Vice Chairman of the Upazila Parishad elections in Mirzapur, Tangail.
Mahbooba Shahreen has been elected vice chairman in the reserved women’s seat. Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Nurul Alam announced the results on Wednesday.
According to the announced results, the winning barrister Tahrim Hossain Shimant (Pineapple) got 55 thousand 770 votes. His closest rival ASM Mojahidul Islam Monir (Kap Pirich) got 31 thousand 995 votes. Border received 23 thousand 775 votes. Feroz Haider Khan (motorcycle) 21 thousand 675 was third. The current vice chairman Azaharul Islam Azahar (lock key) won the position of vice chairman male with 56 thousand 478 votes. His closest rival Shaukat Mia (Tubewell) got 49 thousand 969 votes. The winner got 6 thousand 509 votes more than Azahar. Mahbooba Shahreen (Kolsi) has won the post of vice chairman reserved women’s seat with 54 thousand 647 votes. His nearest rival, the current Vice Chairman Mirza Shamima Akhter Shifa (Football) got 40 thousand 209 votes. The winner Mahbooba got more than 14 thousand 438 votes. Chand Sultana (Duck) came third with 12 thousand 371 votes.
