Fahmid Alam, Liberation War and Democratic Movement Affairs Secretary candidate of the Leftist-backed Aparajeya 71- Adamya 24 Panel, formed by ‘ one part of Chhatra Union, one part of Chhatra Front and Chhatra League (BCL ) , filed a writ in High Court challenging the General Secretary (GS) candidacy of S M Farhad, President of Dhaka University Unit Shibir, in the 2025 ‘Dhaka University Central Students’ Union’ (DUCSU).
Sources said a judicial decision has been sought through the writ to determine whether Farhad’s candidacy is valid or not and the hearing of the writ will be held on Tuesday in the Habibul-Gani-led bench of the High Court.
Barrister Jyotirmay Barua will hear the writ on behalf of the writ, and Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir will appear as the lawyer for Farhad.
After the writ, S M Farhad, in a Facebook Status, said, “I congratulate the leader of the Left Alliance who filed the writ challenging my candidacy for her initiative.”
“Your legal initiative is a better approach than the long-term propaganda against me by various parties by editing photos and making videos and We are constantly on our way by overcoming obstacles, conspiracies, or evil tactics; we will not stop on this journey, Insha Allah,”
