Parents of Shemonty Monjari, Sohrabuddin and Nasima Khan are singers. She got first lesson in music from her father when Shemonty was only four. Noted Tagore artiste Mita Haque is one her family member. From early childhood she got the scope to learn music from Mita Haque. She successfully completed course on Tagore song from Chhayanaut Music School.
During her learning period at Chhayanaut she got the opportunity to receive training from
Waheedul Haque and Dr
Sanjida Khatun.
When she was 18 years old Shemony won the top postion in National Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan. Shemonty has been engaged with Chhayanaut as its teacher for last five years. Her debut solo album titled Rangiye Diye Jao was launched in 2014. Now she
is studying masters in Cultural Studies in London, UK.
Launching ceremony of solo musical album of promising singer Shemonty Monjari titled Dekho Re Chittokomoley was held at Chhayanaut Auditorium in the
city’s Dhanmondi area recently.
Noted music exponent, teacher and researcher Dr Sanjida Khatun unveiled cover of the album as the chief guest, while singer Shemonty, noted Tagore artiste Mita Haque, among others, were present
on the occasion.
After album launching ceremony, Shemonty rendered two
songs – Jogotey anandajoggey aamar nimontron and Ami taarey khunjey berai. Shemonty was accompanied by Enamul Haque Omar in table, Ashit Biswas in esraj and Robins
in key-board in the programme. Director General of Bengal Foundation Luva
Nahid Chowdhury
moderated the event. n
