Md Mosabbir Ali, Moulvibazar :
A different aesthetic scene has emerged in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, at Lal Shapla Beel.
It is in the Hail Haor area of Mirzapur Union of the upazila. It is like a vast water feature drawn by nature’s skillful strokes, in the first light of dawn.
Thousands of red lotuses float on the banks of the haor; from a distance, it seems as if a silent carpet of endless red is spread over the water.
This strange and enchanting sight is now attracting nature lovers from different parts of the country every day.
And the people who are thirsty for nature, travel to the Sananda Beel of the vast Hail Haor, consisting of 14 beels. It has recently become known as the ‘Lal Shapla Beel’.
The huge gathering of red water lilies blooming in the gaps between the green leaves captivates the mind with the softness of the colors and in the pure enchantment of nature. As far as the eye can see, the red lotuses are blooming.
From a distance, it seems like a red carpet state. Thousands of people from different parts of the country flock to the lake every day to enjoy its beauty.
Visitors Pintu Debnath of Kamalganj and Mahfuz Shakil of Kulaura said that there is immense beauty of nature in every corner of the Sylhet region.
But when they came to Shapla Beel, it seemed as if nature had spread its decorations perfectly here.
Deepanvita Dasgupta, a college student from Srimangal, was very impressed to see so many red lotuses together for the first time.
I brought my friends here. It was like standing in a sea of red. My heart was filled with joy.
Local Fahim Ahmed observed that the spread of red lotuses this year is more than ever before.
The entire beel is like a kingdom of red lotuses. Along with this, migratory birds come and go. It is wonderful to see.
Not only is the number of visitors increasing, but so is the economic potential of the locals.
Zakir Hossain, a businessman from Jatrapasha village, said, “Business is increasing everywhere, from markets to hotels to grocery stores, with the arrival of thousands of people.
I just request everyone, don’t pluck the flowers, enjoy the beauty. Haor fisherman Tahir Mia said, “Now, instead of fishing, we are earning better by operating boats. As the number of tourists increase, our income is also increasing.”
Mirzapur High School teacher Mohammad Abu Azam told this Correspondent that this is the best time to enjoy the beauty of Sananda Beel. The red lotus blooms at night. Its natural beauty is visible when you come early in the morning.
Srimangal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Islam Uddin told local media that Mirzapur’s red sapla is now an important tourist attraction for both locals and foreigners’ attraction.
The number of tourists is increasing every day. Like Srimangal, Mirzapur is also gradually becoming known as a tourist area.
