Actress Meher Afroz Shaon, along with Sohana Saba, has been released after extensive questioning.
On Friday evening, Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Media Wing, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the matter to media.
The two were taken to the DB office for questioning on charges of anti-state conspiracy.
Later, they were handed over to their respective families, according to the police.
The DC said that Meher Afroz Shaon and Sohana Saba were released into their families’ custody after questioning at the DB office.
Earlier, Shaon’s name surfaced among those who attended a meeting at Kolkata’s Hotel Park on January 15, both physically and virtually.
Following this, she was placed under intelligence surveillance.
Then, on Thursday at 7pm, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police took her into custody on charges of anti-state conspiracy.
Additionally, on the same night at around 12:30am, Sohana Saba was detained from Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area and taken to the DB office on Minto Road.
According to DB sources, after monitoring Shaon, Sohana Saba was also put under surveillance.
She was accused of engaging in anti-state conspiracy.
Sohana Saba was an active member of the pro-Awami League artists’ WhatsApp group “Alo Asbei”.
