Shamsuzzaman urges govt to ensure voting right
City Desk :
BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on Wednesday called on the government to uphold the people’s right to food and vote, emphasizing the need for immediate action to ensure public safety.
Speaking at a citizen gathering organized by the “Save the Country, Save the People Movement” in front of the Jatiya Press Club, he said: “The distressing situation people are facing must be alleviated, and actions must be taken swiftly in areas where Hasina’s supporters are still present.”
He warned that if the government fails to remain vigilant, “the forces of fascism will gain strength and destroy Bangladesh’s potential.” Stressing the importance of national unity, he said: “To save Bangladesh from destruction, we must preserve national unity and ensure that the government is held accountable.”
Addressing the people, pro-democracy political parties, and BNP leaders and activists, he cautioned that division among opposition forces would only strengthen autocracy. “If we remain divided, autocracy will become stronger. Therefore, we must remain united in all circumstances,” he asserted.
Dudu also accused former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her associates of “conspiring in various ways to destabilize Bangladesh,” claiming that they have the backing of a neighboring country. “We must remain vigilant in this regard and maintain the unity we had on August 5,” he urged.
The gathering, attended by BNP activists and supporters, echoed demands for greater democracy, economic stability, and fair elections in the country.
