In the match against South Africa, which Sri Lanka lost by 6 wickets, Hasaranga failed to score any runs. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 77, setting an embarrassing record for their lowest total in T20Is. Later, with the ball, Hasaranga took 2 wickets for 22 runs.
