Five Hindu followers have tragically died due to electrocution during the chariot procession of Hindus in Bogura. At least 20 people were injured in this incident. Shabnur, a popular film actress of the 90s, has expressed deep grief over the deaths and injuries.
On Monday, the actress shared a collage photo of Rath Yatra with her photo through social media. In which she wrote the caption, “I have expressed deep grief over the tragic death and injuries of traditional religious people in Bogura due to electrocution.”
In that post, Shabnur’s fans also expressed grief.
A fan named Sudipto Ghosh wrote, “Very sad incident. But it happened because of ignorance. I am deeply saddened. Wishing peace to the departed soul.” Another fan of Shabnur named Gopal commented, “I salute such a noble mentality of a Shabnur. I myself am deeply saddened by this incident.”
The accident took place at Seuzkhali Amtali Mor area of Bogura city around 4:15pm on Sunday. Rath Yatra Festival of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev, one of the religious events of Hindus, started on Sunday.
According to Hindu custom, the Rath Jatra of Jagannath Dev begins every year on the second tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Chandra Ashar. The festival will end with a colourful procession of Ulto Rath
at 3:00pm on July 15.
