A seminar on strategies for women’s careers and leadership roles in the ICT sector was held at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid was present as the chief guest. On Tuesday, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of UB and the Improving Computer and Software Engineering Tertiary Education Project (ICSETEP) organised a seminar titled ‘Strategies for Women in ICT to Advance Their Careers and Leadership Rules’ in the digital classroom of the CSE Department of UB.
In his speech as the chief guest, UB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid said, “Currently, the role of women in building the country is very important.
Women must come forward to build the country and the nation by overcoming all obstacles. Our female students of this department will advance in science and technology and make the name of UB shine in the world. I think that from this seminar, students will not only gain skills, but also advance in leadership qualities and fulfill their family’s dreams.”
Addressing the students, he said, “With your help, UB will become the best university in the country in science and technology.” The seminar was attended by ICSETEP’s Women IT Leadership Specialist Professor Dr. Shahina Sultana and Samsung Electronics’ Senior Software Engineer Kanjum Atia Binti as resource persons. The speakers shed light on strategies for women’s careers and leadership roles in the ICT sector and career development of students.
The seminar was chaired by ICSETEP’s PEU Dr. Md. Alam Hossain, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and ICSETEP Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, and CSE Department Chairman Dr. Md. Kamrul Islam were present as special guests.
The seminar was attended by Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dean Dr. Md. Amjad Hossain, CSE Department Assistant Professor Dr. Nazmul Hossain, Dr. Mohammad Nowshin Ahmed Sheikh, Dr. Md. Nasim Adnan, Lecturer SK. Salauddin Kabir, Zubair Al Mahmud and other teachers and students of the department. The seminar was conducted by Lecturer Abu Rafe Md. Jamil of the CSE Department.
