India opted to tighten their security arrangements for the upcoming India-Bangladesh second Test match, set to take place at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27 to October 1.
A senior official confirmed these measures on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a safe environment for players and spectators alike.
In a related incident, an FIR was filed against 20 members of the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha on Monday. They allegedly organized a ‘havan’ (a Hindu ritual involving fire) and obstructed the road leading to the stadium as a form of protest against reported atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh.
Police said a “fool-proof” security plan has been chalked out for India and Bangladesh cricket teams which were supposed to arrive at Kanpur by Tuesday evening.
“We are reviewing the security arrangements to leave no stone unturned and (are) confident of getting an adequate police force to meet the requirements,” stated in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Hindu Mahasabha has called for ‘Gwalior Bandh’ on October 6 to oppose the T20I matches between the two sides.
