In response to recent bank robberies by the Kuki Chin National Front in Bandarban, the law enforcers have significantly bolstered security measures across the country.

This heightened security applies to various strategic locations, key installations, and even the metro rail stationsin the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Law enforcement officials have been instructed to establish checkpoints at critical points to thwart any potential terrorist attacks. Additionally, mobile patrol teams have been deployed for rigorous day and night patrols.

These measures aim to ensure the safety and security of both important infrastructure and the homes of residents who are departing the capital city to celebrate Eid with their families.

The police headquarters has issued directives for both police and the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) to maintain heightened vigilance throughout the Eid holiday period.

A reporter visiting the Shahbag and Secretariat metro rail stations confirmed the presence of APBN personnel deployed for security purposes.

An anonymous APBN member at the Secretariat Metro Rail station revealed they had received instructions to remain vigilant throughout the Eid holidays.

Meanwhile, the police headquarters has announced the implementation of strict security measures at financial institutions and government establishments.

Police stations in all critical areas have been instructed to establish checkpoints at crucial points to combat any potential terrorist threats.

Mobile patrol teams have also been significantly increased to conduct rigorous patrols day and night.

Additional Inspector General of Police, Anwar Hossain, addressed the media, emphasizing that police forces will remain on high alert to effectively handle any situation that may arise.

He further elaborated that special directives have been issued to combat theft, robbery, and extortion in every district, both before and after the Eid holidays.

“We have issued clear instructions to ensure no incidents of theft or extortion occur on the streets,” Inspector General Hossain said. “To guarantee safety during Eid, police holidays have been cancelled nationwide.”

Assistant Inspector General of Police (Media), Inamul Haque Sagar, elaborated that heightened vigilance is always maintained by the police to prevent theft and robbery during Ramadan and Eid.

He added, “Mobile police teams are deployed in crucial establishments and commercial areas. Recent bank robberies in Bandarban prompted the issuance of special instructions to the police.”

Security measures have also been intensified at the local level. Superintendent of Police, Md. Asaduzzaman, confirmed these intensified measures are being implemented in accordance with directives from headquarters.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (Media) Inamul Haque Sagar emphasized that police vigilance is always heightened during Ramadan and Eid to prevent theft and robbery.

He explained that mobile police teams are routinely deployed in critical areas, and recent bank robberies in Bandarban prompted the issuance of additional security directives.

Superintendent of Police, Md. Asaduzzaman, confirmed the implementation of these directives, highlighting increased police presence at banks and other financial institutions.

He added that patrols have been amplified, and security measures at checkpoints have been strengthened to effectively assess potential risks.

Meanwhile, police have issued a list of 14 instructions for the residents who would leave Dhaka to celebrate Eid with their family members.

The instructions include to switch off gas stoves, electricity and water lines, install CC Cameras, ensure adequate lights around the building, keep cash or gold ornaments to safer places, inform police at 999 in case of any suspect and never share bank accounts, bKash or Nagad numbers with unknown persons.
