A school teacher named Asadur Rahman (35) was killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle in Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place in the Pingaria area on the Signboard-Bagerhat regional highway around 8 a.m., said Md. Shamim Ahmed Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachua Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Asadur Rahman, son of Saiful Islam of Satbosu village in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira. He was a mathematics teacher at Daibajhati Bishweshwar Secondary School in Morrelganj.
According to the school’s headmaster, Pijus Kanti, Asadur was on his way to school when his motorcycle collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Dola Paribahan bus.
He was critically injured in the crash. Locals rescued him and took him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
OC Shamim Ahmed Khan said the bus involved in the accident has been seized. The body will be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
