The Scholastica School’s A-Level student, Tashwaar Tamim, won the Gold Award in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (EC) 2025.

He won the Gold Award in the Senior Category for those aged 14 to 18.
This competition is organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCT). It is an international school-based essay competition that is over 140 years old.

This year’s theme was ‘Our Commonwealth Journey’. A total of 53,434 essays were submitted from 56 Commonwealth countries.

Thousands of students from all over the world are participating in this through essays, poems, plays, or letters. The competition has two age-based divisions, says a press release.
The senior division is for those aged 14 to 18.

The junior division is for those under 14. There is a separate word limit for each category. Writers in different categories receive Gold Awards.

One best writer each from the senior and junior categories won the Platinum Award.
Typically, the winners of the Global Winner and Senior Category are invited to attend the awards ceremony, which is usually held in London. Certificates are awarded to all winners and shortlisted students.
