Eight establishments owned by Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) have earned a revenue of 1 crore 86 lakh 2 thousand 500 taka from leasing for the fiscal year 2025-26, which is 67 lakh 73 thousand 400 taka more than the current fiscal year.
These leases were completed through a proper process by inviting tenders recently, said a press release sent by SCC Public Relations Officer Nehar Ranjan Purkayastha.
The release said that the highest income in the fiscal year 2025-26 came from the Kadamtali Central Bus Terminal in South Surma, where a lease of 1 crore 43 lakh 50 thousand taka was given for collecting toll from vehicles and counters.
In addition, revenue of 16 lakh 80 thousand taka was collected from the Kumargaon bus terminal and related public toilets and shop premises in North Surma, 1 lakh 23 thousand 500 taka from the public toilet adjacent to Kalighat passenger shelter, 6 lakh 22 thousand taka from the toilet adjacent to Kadamtali Muktijoddha Chattar, and 1 lakh 7 thousand taka from the toilet adjacent to Chowhatta Civil Surgeon Office.
At the same time, 12 lakh 22 thousand taka was collected from the 7 public toilet areas inside Kadamtali bus terminal, 6 lakh 50 thousand taka from tolls for the transport of goods by external ships and ballgates/boats on the Surma river route, and 59 thousand taka from the lease of the Haldi Chhara walkway adjacent to Roseview Hotel in the suburbs.
In the 2024-25 fiscal year, the revenue collected from the lease of these same establishments was 1 crore 18 lakh 29 thousand 100 taka. Which is less than 67 lakhs compared to the current fiscal year.
At that time, 97 lakh 50 thousand taka was received from Kadamtali bus terminal, 7 lakh 11 thousand taka from Kumargaon bus terminal and related places, 86 thousand taka from Kalighat toilet, 3 lakh 19 thousand taka from Muktijoddha Chattar toilet, 62 thousand 100 taka from Chowhatta toilet, 5 lakh 21 thousand taka from the seven toilet areas of Kadamtali and 3 lakh 80 thousand taka from toll for transporting goods on the river. The Haldi Chhatra walkway was not leased in that fiscal year.
The public relations officer of the CCIC said that the process of leasing the public toilet adjacent to the South Surma Parairchak Central Truck Terminal and the Osmani Shishu Udyan in Dhopadighi on the south is under process.
