The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday upheld the bail granted by the High Court to four BNP leaders, including its standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed and MK Anwar, in two cases filed with Motijheel Police Station.The other two leaders are Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas. A 5-memebr Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain, rejected four leave to appeal petitions filed by the government against the HC order.Adv AJ Mohammad Ali and Joynul Abedin, assisted by Barrister Ehsanur Rahman and Sagir Hossain Leon, stood for the accused BNP leaders. Earlier, on January 21, the High Court granted interim bail to the four BNP leaders in two cases filed with Motijheel Police Station The two cases were filed on September 24 and November 5 last year.
