NN Online:
Students of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) on Thursday maintained their class boycott for the fourth consecutive day, demanding an immediate resolution to the ongoing teacher shortage to ensure the smooth continuation of academic activities.
Meanwhile, the protesting students rejected a government notification over the appointment of two lectures for them.
Like on Wednesday, the students staged demonstrations on Bandh Road and formed human chains in the morning, halting traffic movement.
Two main entry gates remained under lock and key and banners reading “Complete Shutdown” at the gates hung.
The administrative and academic activities of the college came to a halt as officials couldn’t enter due to the lock.
The students have been threatening that they will continue the movement until their demand is met.
Currently, 188 out of 334 posts of teachers remain vacant, hampering the academic activities.
