Agitated students of Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College (SBMC) declaring fourteen including Vice Principal, teachers, intern doctors as unwanted demanded their immediate resignation.
They also demanded that the internship of 6 intern doctors of the hospital should be suspended for two years. The students of the college holding demonstration, protest rally at Barishal Sher-e- Bangla Medical College campus on Saturday afternoon handed over memorandum to the authourity. The students alleged that said the accused give threats and intimidation to take a direct stand against the anti-discrimination student movement.
So the activists of the anti-discrimination student movement said that Senior Consultant Sudip Kumar Halder, Resident Surgeon Masreful Islam Soikat, Medical Officer Shirin Sabiha Tanni, Internal Medical ASM Sayem, former director of the hospital Bakir Hossain, former principal SM Sarwar, vice principal GM Nazimul Haque, Assistant Professor Sourabh Sutar, Intern Physician Mohsin Bibha, Arifuzzaman Imon, Sadman Bakir Sabab, Pritam Debnath, Arghya Biswas and Asiful Islam have been declared unwanted in the college and hospital.
The protertors standing in front of the hospital director’s room and presented their demands to him. We have informed the hospital director and principal in writing about our demands, the protestors told.Students and intern doctors of Sher E Bangla Medical College and Hospital spoke in the rally.
They said accused persons were directly against the student movement and working as the employees of government agencies. The accused threatening the activists tried to suppress the movement, intimidation of the protesting students, actively participated in favour of the previous dictatorial government and attacked on the protesting students with abusive words and attitudes.
So we have rendered themas morally disqualified from holding their posts, they claimed. Apart from this, the students were also subjected to mental torture in various ways. So the rally was held to demand the resignation of those involved in these activities.
Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital Director Dr. HM Saiful Islam said, I have received the complaints of the students. The accused doctors have been declared unwelcome on the campus and four of them in charge will be transferred immediately and the internship of 6 intern doctors has been suspended for two years.
