The 93rd birth anniversary of legendary cultural icon and former Chhayanaut president Sanjida Khatun was commemorated through a heartfelt musical evening at the Chhayanaut Auditorium in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on Friday night.
Organized by her family, the program paid tribute to her enduring legacy with a series of performances featuring her favorite songs, poetry, and reflections. A highlight of the event was the projection of several of Sanjida Khatun’s own song recordings, including “Akash Hote Akash Pothe” and “Jodi Prem Dile Na Prane,” evoking deep emotion among the audience.
Live performances by esteemed artists and family members—such as Fahmida Khatun and Mahmuda Khatun—added a personal touch to the tribute. Notable renditions included “Phul Bole Dhonno Ami,” “Dinanto Belay,” and “Sokal Belar Aloy Baje.”
Chhayanaut Executive President Dr Sarwar Ali delivered a moving remembrance speech, underscoring Sanjida Khatun’s uncompromising commitment to Bengali culture and identity.
The event concluded with group songs and a final playback of her voice in “Ebar Dukkho Amar Oshim Pathar,” marking a poignant farewell to the beloved cultural stalwart, who passed away on March 25 at the age of 92.
