Sammilito Parishad Fields 43 Candidates for BGMEA 2025–27 Election

Sammilito Parishad has submitted 44 nomination forms from 43 candidates for the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) biennial election for the 2025–2027 term. As per tradition, the panel leader has submitted two nomination forms. Among them, 33 candidates are contesting from the Dhaka region for 26 director positions, while 10 nomination forms have been submitted for 9 director positions from the Chattogram region.

On Saturday, 26 April 2025, in a vibrant and enthusiastic environment at the Uttara BGMEA Complex, members of the Sammilito Parishad under the leadership of panel leader Md. Abul Kalam, who is also the Managing Director of Chaity Group, submitted their nomination forms. Other panel members were also present during the submission.

Other candidates are Faruque Hassan, BGMEA former president and managing director of Giant Textiles Ltd, Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, BGMEA former president and managing director of Designtex Knitwear Ltd., Abdullah Hil Rakib, BGMEA former senior vice president and managing director of 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd, Miran Ali, BGMEA former vice president and managing director of Misami Garments Ltd., Md. Moshiul Azam, BGMEA former vice president and managing director of Posmi Sweaters Ltd., Asif Ashraf, BGMEA former vice president and Managing director of Urmi Garments Ltd., Feroz Alam, director, Tusuka Apparels Ltd., Tanvir Ahmed, Managing Director of Green Textile Ltd., Md. Ashikur Rahman (Tuhin) Managing director of Mayc`s Garments Ltd., M. Kafil Uddin Ahmed amanging director of J.F.K Fashion Ltd., Tamanna Farroque Thema, Managing Director of BG Collection Ltd., Md. Mohiuddin Rubel, Additional managing director of Denim Expert Ltd., Md. Shahadat Hossan, managing director of Fortis Garments Ltd..

10 Candidates from CTG region

S M Abu Tayyab, Managing Director of Independent Apparels Limited, and Sammilito Parishad panel leader for the Chattogram region also submitted the nominations form. Among other key candidates are in the panel from this region Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, Managing Director of HKF Limited and Apparels Limited.The panel also includes several well-known industry entrepreneurs. Anian Shekhar Das, Managing Director of R.A.N. Industrial Limited; Mohammed Musa, Managing Director of Madina garments ltd.; Nafid Nabi, Managing Director of BSA Apparels Ltd; Syed Mohammad Tanvir, Managing Director of Pacific Jeans Limited; Mostafa Sarwar Riyadh, Managing Director of RDM Apparels Limited; Md. Absar Hossain, Managing Director of Top Star Fashion Limited; and Gazi Md. Shahid Ullah, Director of Sonnet Textile Industries Ltd. and Rakib Bin Towhid Chowdhury, Managing Director, Jerat shirt ltd.

 

According to the election schedule, 6 May 2025 is the last date for the withdrawal of nominations. The Election Board will publish the final list of candidates on 8 May 2025. The election is scheduled to take place on 31 May 2025, simultaneously in both Dhaka and Chattogram regions.

After the submission of nomination forms, Sammilito Parishad panel leader Md Abul Kalam expressed his commitment to playing a significant role in the development and progress of the garment sector. He stated that they would work tirelessly to build a structured, participatory, and stronger BGMEA. The panel’s mission is to protect members’ interests, drive innovation and pragmatic policy formulation, and adopt proactive strategies to establish global ownership.

Sammilito Parishad aims to ensure fair and effective representation of Bangladesh’s garment sector, moving towards sustainability and building trust.

During the submission, former BGMEA President Quazi Moniruzzaman was also present.

Faruque Hassan, who is also the Chief Coordinator of the BGMEA 2025–2027 biennial election, and former First Vice-President of BGMEA, is overseeing the election process. Meanwhile, Nasir Uddin Chowdhury serves as the Chief Coordinator for the BGMEA 2025–2027 biennial election in the Chattogram region.
