A police investigation report found that Salman F Rahman, former investment adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina admitted in a statement given to the court that, Nazrul Islam, formar Chairman of Fareast Islami life insurence company Ltd and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Primeasia University was kidnapped, removed from the organization and financially harmed.
Nazrul Islam, filed cases with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate against former Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman, alleging that he looted several of his business houses.
According to the case Salman used various government agencies to file cases against Nazrul. Several cases were also filed against him using the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC). At one point, Nazrul was forced to leave the country with his family.
Nazrul Islam, filed three cases against Salman F Rahman with Gulshan Police Station after July Revolution. According to the details of those cases, during the Awami League government, the plaintiff (Nazrul) was called to the office and pressured to run the plaintiff’s business as per the orders of the main defendant Salman F Rahman.
A police investigation report states that Salman admitted in a statement given to the court that, Nazrul Islam was kidnapped, removed from the organization and financially harmed.
Several other investigation reports by the Special Branch of the police have revealed information implicating Nazrul Islam in various conspiracy-related cases and taking over business establishments.
Salman took the plaintiff hostage and made him sign important documents to embezzle his money. He sent Nazrul Islam to jail by filing several false and harassment cases. Salman has also admitted to forcibly taking over all business and trade positions, including the chairmanship of Fareast Islami life insurence Ltd and the chairmanship of the board of trustees of Primeasia University.
In his case statement, Nazrul Islam alleged that during the tenure of the Awami League government, Salman F Rahman summoned him to his office and attempted to pressure him into running his institutions according to Salman’s directives. Upon refusal, Nazrul claims, he was threatened with abduction, enforced disappearance and death by misuse of police power.
Nazrul further stated that after reporting the threats to law enforcers, Salman’s alleged intimidation escalated. On September 10, 2022, he was reportedly picked up from his residence by Detective Branch (DB) officials under Salman’s instructions. Following his detention, he was shown arrested in multiple fabricated cases, and under duress, control of his organizations was forcibly transferred to a new board, allegedly orchestrated by Salman and others.
On September 1, 2021, without any reason, the board was dissolved and an interim board of directors was formed.
Later, two companies of the Beximco Group owned by Salman F Rahman appointed the former Director General of DGFI Maj Gen (retd) Mamun Khaled and jailed journalist Mozammel Babu as directors.
