NN Online Report:
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Advisor on Private Industry and Investment, Salman F Rahman, and former Law Minister Anisul Huq have been arrested by law enforcement authorities in Dhaka. The arrests took place on Tuesday in the Sadarghat area of the capital.
The arrests were confirmed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Moinul Hasan, who stated that both individuals were detained in connection with a case filed at the New Market Police Station.
These developments follow the resignation and subsequent departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the country on August 5, in response to a mass uprising led by students and the general public. Following her departure, many members of her cabinet and leaders of the Awami League went into hiding.
On August 7, a 17-member interim government was formed under the leadership of Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, further escalating the political situation in the country.
