‘Salam Salam Hajar Salam’ lyricist Fazal-e-Khuda dies at 81

Renowned lyricist Fazal-e-Khuda, known for the song, “Salam Salam Hajar Salam”, died of coronavirus infections in the early hours of Sunday (July 04). He was 81.
He breathed his last at Suhrawardy Hospital in the capital around 4 am on Monday. Wasif-e-Khuda, the eldest son of Fazal-e-Khuda, has confirmed his death.
It was learned that Fazal-e-Khuda was diagnosed with Covid-19 two days ago. Besides, his wife Mahmuda Sultana, eldest son Wasif-e-Khuda along with his wife have also contracted the virus. Among them, Mahmuda Sultana is undergoing treatment at Suhrawardy Hospital.
Born on 9 March 1941 in Banagram of Bera Thana in Pabna district, Fazal-e-Khuda the lyricist of many untimely songs. Among them are – “Deshete Shapla Shaluk Jhiler Jole Vashe”, “Bhalobashar Mullo Koto, Ami Kisu Jani Na”, “Kolshi Kadhe Ghate Jay Kon Ruposhi”, “Bashonti Rong Shari Pore Kon Romoni Chole Jay”, “Ami Prodiper Moto Raat Jege Jege, Bhabna Amar Ahoto Pakhir Moto”, etc. are notable.
He was listed as a lyricist at Betar in 1963. In 1964, he was listed as a lyricist on television. Fazal-e-Khuda also wrote as a rhymer.
He has been praised for writing patriotic, modern, folk and Islamic songs. The former regional director of Dhaka Betar is the founding director of Shapla Shaluk, an organization of children and teenagers.

The “Salam Salam Hajar Salam” song written by Fazal-e-Khuda is in 12th place in the list of the best 20 songs of all time in the BBC survey.
